From reading "The House on Mango Street", we knew about the author, Esperanza and her family. We knew her family has moved often, so she was hard to make friends, her family is poor, so they didin't live at good place, her mother and father told about dream and they told they could live in better place than now but she is wise and realistic, so she understands she won't live in the house like a dream. She is having a hard life, so she feels she wants to be free and she wants to have a exciting life.
I understood Esperanza's life is very hard. My life is not like her life. I moved to Singapore soon Iwas born and after 10 years, I moved to Malaysia because of my father's job. Move to other country is hard because life is totally different but I could have a lot of friends and I could enjoy my life in Singapore and Malaysia very much. When we lived in overseas, we talked a lot and we were like a friend but now, we don't talk so much and we have different plan everyday, so sometimes we don't meet at home so much. My family is not noisy like Esperanza's family but I think my family became separately, so I feel little lonely.

It's an interesting childhood to have led Satomi. It must have been tough adjusting to 2 different countries. I felt it was hard enough moving to a new school within my own country. Do you keep in touch with any Malaysians now?
ReplyDeleteYour life in Singapore and Malaysia sounds fun even though you had a difficult time to servive in a different culture. My family used to talk a lot but each family member has different plans like your family, and sometimes being separate.
ReplyDeleteI don't meet my parents a lot these days, either. So, here's my suggestioin; at a special day like your parents' birthdays, you should try to spend time together!
